Mercedes A45 AMG – The Winner

After winning my vote in the Pi**ing contest earlier this morning its only fair I take a look at the A45 AMG in more detail. As well as being in this spat with Audi the A45 AMG will be in direct competition with the BMW M135i and the next generation of Audi RS3, an area Mercedes have avoided up until now.

Naturally the A45 AMG is based on the new A-class and as I pointed out earlier this is the first time AMG has made anything smaller than the C-class.

After further research it look like the price could go as high as £36,000 meaning it is more expensive than the M135i but to be honest, I’d pay the extra based on looks alone.

The A45 AMG will make use of an all aluminium four-cylinder engine with a lovely twin-scroll turbo. The same engine which AMG will be using in the CLA45.

As I said this morning the A45 AMG can manage 0-60mph in 4.6seconds with a limited top speed of 155mph. this speed is put to the road through a new Mercedes seven speed dual-clutch auto gearbox connected to a 4-wheel drive system, a far cry from the usual, all power to the back stance of Mercedes past.

The A45 AMG will be on show at the Geneva motor show next month and will be on sale in the UK by July.
